Terms & Conditions

1. About these terms
By placing an order with BOBO Hifi you agree to these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where any part of these terms conflicts with the Australian Consumer Law, the Australian Consumer Law prevails.
2. Our products
BOBO Hifi loudspeakers are handmade to order in small batches. Because each pair is made by hand from natural and machined materials, there will be minor variation between pairs — particularly in timber veneer grain and in the finish of anodised aluminium. This is a characteristic of handmade goods, not a defect.
Speakers are sold and priced per pair, matched and measured together before dispatch. We don't sell single speakers except by prior arrangement.
BOBO passive speakers contain no amplification, no wireless connectivity and no digital processing, and require an external amplifier and source to operate. These are not supplied.
3. Prices
All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and are stated per pair unless expressly noted otherwise.
BOBO Hifi is not currently registered for GST, and no GST is charged on our prices.
Prices exclude shipping, which is quoted separately. Prices may change at any time, but the price confirmed in your order confirmation is the price that applies to your order.
4. Ordering and lead time
Placing an order through our website or by email is an offer to purchase. Your order is accepted when we send you an order confirmation by email. That confirmation is the point at which a contract is formed and the point from which all lead times run.
We aim to deliver within approximately 6 to 8 weeks of order confirmation. This is an estimate made in good faith, not a guaranteed date. Handmade production and component supply can both move. If a build is going to run materially beyond the estimate, we'll tell you as soon as we know, give you a revised date, and you may cancel for a full refund if the delay is unacceptable to you.
We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order — including after confirmation — where the item has been listed at an obviously incorrect price, where we cannot source the required components, or where we cannot reasonably fulfil the order. If we cancel, we'll refund you in full.
5. Payment
Full payment is required at the time of order. Production begins once payment has cleared and your order is confirmed.
We accept online payments through out website or direct bank transfers. Online website payments are processed by Stripe — we do not store your card details.
6. Cancellations and changes
You may cancel your order for any reason within 7 days of order confirmation, provided production has not commenced, and receive a full refund.
After 7 days, or once production has commenced (whichever is earlier), your order cannot be cancelled and any deposit becomes non-refundable. We'll always tell you when production is starting on your pair.
Changes to finish or specification after confirmation may be possible depending on where your build has got to. Ask us — if we can accommodate it we will, and we'll tell you if it affects the price or the lead time.
Custom and bespoke projects are made specifically for you and cannot be cancelled once design has been approved, except as required by law. See section 12.
7. Shipping and delivery
Where we ship. We ship Australia-wide. We also ship internationally on request; email us for a quote.
Cost. Shipping is quoted separately and isn't included in the product price. BOBO speakers are heavy and fragile, and freight varies a great deal by destination — quoting a flat rate would mean overcharging most people. We'll confirm your shipping cost with your order confirmation, before any payment is due. If it's more than you expected, you can cancel at that point at no charge.
Local delivery. If you're in the Sydney metro area we'll usually deliver your speakers ourselves. It costs less, nothing gets thrown around a depot, and we get to see them go into the room they were built for. We're also happy to help with initial placement while we're there.
Packaging. Every pair is packed in heavy duty cardboard packaging with foam protective inserts, built for the trip. Please keep the packaging for at least the first 30 days — if there's ever a transit claim or a warranty return, you'll need it.
Timing. Shipping happens after your build is complete — roughly 6–8 weeks from order confirmation. We'll email you tracking when your pair leaves us. Transit is typically [X–X business days] metro and [X–X business days] regional, but that's the carrier's estimate, not ours.
Access. A boxed pair is heavy — up to [XX] kg per carton for the OEM1. Please make sure someone is available to receive and sign for the delivery, that there's a clear path to the door, and that you have help on hand if there are stairs. Standard courier delivery is to your door only — carriers won't carry items inside or upstairs. If you need in-home delivery, tell us and we'll arrange it.
Risk in transit. We carry the risk until your speakers are delivered to your nominated address. All shipments are insured for full replacement value.
If your delivery arrives damaged: photograph the carton before you open it including any external damage, photograph the speakers as you unpack, keep all packaging, and email us within 7 days at info@bobohifi.com.au. We'll handle the carrier claim. You won't be out of pocket for a transit failure that isn't your fault.
International orders. The customer is responsible for all import duties, taxes, customs brokerage and clearance fees. These are not included in our shipping quote and are not refundable. Please check your country's requirements before ordering.
8. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
These rights sit above everything in sections 9 and 10. Our warranty is in addition to them, not instead of them.
9. Warranty
Every BOBO Hifi loudspeaker is covered by a 5-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, from the date of delivery. The warranty covers the complete loudspeaker: drivers, crossover components, cabinet construction, and finish.
What's covered: Driver and/or crossover component failure not caused by overpowering or misuse. Cabinet joinery, bracing or structural failure. Finish defects — lifting veneer, failing paint, anodising defects. Any other defect in the materials we used or the work we did.
What's not covered: Damage from accident, drops, or impact. Damage from overpowering, clipping or driving the speakers beyond their rated limits. Damage from unsuitable or faulty amplification. Damage from moisture, direct sunlight, extreme heat or humidity, or outdoor use. Unauthorised modification or repair, including opening the cabinet. Normal wear to contact surfaces, and the natural ageing of timber veneer — real timber shifts in colour over years of light exposure, and that's the material behaving as it should. Damage occurring after delivery in transit arranged by you.
Making a claim. Email info@bobohifi.com.au with your order number, a description of the problem, and photos or a short video where it helps. We'll come back to you within 10 business days.
If a claim is valid we'll cover the cost of return shipping and either repair or replace the speaker. Where a repair is possible without shipping — a crossover component, for instance — we'll often just send the part with instructions, or talk you through it.
Beyond the warranty period. These speakers are built to last decades, and we intend to be here. Outside the warranty period we'll continue to support them wherever we reasonably can — repairs, replacement parts, re-finishing, and advice. Get in touch and we'll do what we can.
10. Returns
Change of mind. Every BOBO speaker is handmade to order in limited runs. We don't hold stock, and a returned pair can't simply go back on a shelf. For that reason we don't accept returns or offer refunds for change of mind. Please make sure you're confident before ordering — ask us anything, and if you're in Sydney, come and listen first. We'd much rather spend an hour with you beforehand than have you unhappy afterwards. You can cancel within 7 days of order confirmation if production hasn't started — see section 6.
Faulty, damaged or not as described. Different situation entirely, and your rights are protected. If your speakers arrive damaged, are faulty, or aren't what was described, contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos. Depending on the nature of the problem and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, we'll repair, replace, or refund. If the damage happened in transit, please keep all the packaging — carriers usually require it to assess a claim, and it makes the process much faster.
Custom and bespoke work. Custom projects are designed and built for one client and one space, and can't be returned or refunded except where required by law. Your consumer guarantees still apply in full.
11. Product information
We work hard to make sure specifications, descriptions and images are accurate. Photographs are representative; timber and anodised finishes vary naturally and colours render differently on different screens. Specifications may be refined as designs evolve — the specification supplied with your order confirmation is the one that applies.
12. Custom and commercial projects
These terms apply to bespoke and commercial projects, in addition to everything above.
Scope. Every project starts with a written proposal covering the design brief, specifications, materials and finishes, price, payment schedule and estimated timeline. That proposal, once you've accepted it in writing, is the scope of work.
Payments. 40% on proposal acceptance, covering design development and material procurement, non-refundable once design work commences. 40% on design approval, payable when you sign off on the final design and before fabrication begins. Balance on completion, payable before delivery or installation. Goods remain our property until paid in full.
Design approval. We'll develop the design with you and provide drawings, renders or samples as appropriate. Note design itterations are limited to a total number of 3x. A first submission and a total of 2x refinements addressing feedback. Fabrication doesn't begin until you approve the design in writing. Once approved, the design is locked. Changes after that point are quoted as a variation and may affect both price and timeline. We'll always quote a variation before doing the work.
Timelines. Estimated in good faith from the date of design approval, and dependent on material and component availability. We'll flag any material delay as soon as we know about it. Where a project is tied to a venue opening or a fitout program, tell us the fixed date at the outset so we can plan against it. We'd rather decline than miss it.
Cancellation. If you cancel after design work has commenced, the design fee is not refundable. If you cancel after fabrication has commenced, you remain liable for work completed and materials procured to that point. We'll invoice honestly against actual costs and provide a breakdown.
Intellectual property. All designs, drawings, prototypes and specifications developed by BOBO Hifi remain our intellectual property, including where developed in response to a client brief. Buying a custom system gives you ownership of the physical goods, not of the design. Where a client contributes design input, we'll agree ownership of that contribution in writing before work commences. You may not reproduce, reverse-engineer, or commission a third party to copy any BOBO design.
Photography and publicity. We'd like to photograph completed work and use it in our portfolio, on our website and on social media. By default we'll ask before publishing anything, and we'll respect an embargo until your launch date. If you'd prefer us not to publish at all, say so at the outset and we'll note it in the proposal. If you'd like to reference us in your own materials, we'd love that — just credit us as BOBO Hifi.
Site work and installation. Installation is quoted separately. We need safe, clear and reasonable access to the space at the agreed time. We're responsible for our own work. We're not responsible for the condition of the building, existing electrical infrastructure, or work carried out by others.
Acoustic outcomes. We design and tune to get the best result achievable in your space, and we'll be straight with you about what's achievable before you commit. Room acoustics are determined largely by architecture — dimensions, surfaces, ceiling height, furnishings. Where a room presents fundamental acoustic challenges we'll tell you at consultation, and recommend treatment where it would help. We can't guarantee a specific acoustic outcome in a room whose construction we don't control.
Warranty. Custom systems carry the same 5-year warranty as our standard products, plus your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. The warranty covers the equipment we built. It doesn't cover damage from misuse, from unsuitable amplification supplied by others, or from building works after installation.
13. Privacy
BOBO Hifi respects your privacy. This section explains what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it.
What we collect. When you order: name, email, phone number, delivery address, billing address. When you contact us: name, email, phone if you give it, and whatever's in your message. When you sign up for stock notifications or updates: your email address. When you visit the site: basic analytics — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, aggregated and not identifying you personally.
We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled by [payment processor], who process them under their own security standards and privacy policy.
Why we collect it. To process and deliver your order, keep you updated on your build, answer your questions, handle warranty claims and support, send you updates if and only if you've asked for them, and meet our record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with. We don't sell your information, ever. We share what's necessary with shipping carriers (name, address and phone, so they can deliver), our payment processor, our website and email platforms ([list, e.g. Cargo, Mailchimp]), our accountant, and anyone we're legally required to share it with. Some of these providers may store data outside Australia. We choose providers with appropriate protections in place.
Marketing. We'll only email you marketing if you've opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link and we act on it immediately. Unsubscribing from marketing doesn't stop us emailing you about an order you've placed.
How long we keep it. Order records: 7 years, as required for tax purposes. Enquiries with no order: 2 years. Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
Security. We take reasonable steps to protect your information — access controls, reputable providers, and not keeping more than we need. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your details the way we'd want ours treated.
Cookies. Our site uses cookies for basic functionality — keeping your cart, remembering preferences — and for analytics. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though parts of the site may stop working properly.
Your rights. You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, delete your information where we're not legally required to keep it, or stop sending you marketing. Email info@bobohifi.com.au and we'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, email us first and we'll try to sort it out. If you're still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
14. Intellectual property
All designs, images, text and other content on this website are the property of BOBO Hifi and may not be reproduced without our written permission. Purchasing a BOBO product does not transfer any rights in its design.
15. Our liability
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. To the extent permitted by law, and other than as required by those guarantees, our liability for any claim relating to our products is limited to, at our option: replacing the goods, repairing the goods, supplying equivalent goods, or paying the cost of any of these.
We are not liable for damage caused by improper installation, use with unsuitable amplification, or use outside the product's intended purpose.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
