About Us
BOBO HiFi began with two brothers looking for a reason to spend more time together.
For as long as we can remember, we've shared a love of music, design and making things with our hands. Two years ago, that shared passion became a project: build a pair of hifi speakers for our own homes. We listened, refined, rebuilt and listened again. After sharing what we were doing with those around us, we realised this was a passion others would get behind.
Matt has always been the visionary. He built his first speaker as a teenager before going on to design large-scale PA systems for outdoor events. Combined with his background in architecture, he brings an instinct for proportion, acoustics and thoughtful design.
Lachie is the maker. A Design and Technology teacher by trade, he finds joy in understanding materials, refining processes and building things that last. He is happiest in the workshop, where sketches become prototypes, prototypes become products, and every small detail is given the time it deserves.
Every BOBO HiFi speaker carries countless conversations, late nights in the workshop, lessons learned through trial and error, and a genuine love for music and craftsmanship.
We're still just two brothers building speakers together. The only difference is that now we get to share them with others.
The BOBO Design Philosophy
What makes a great speaker? For us, it comes down to four core characteristics:
Holographic Soundstage:
A great speaker disappears. By managing phase alignment and off-axis dispersion in our crossover networks, we decouple the sound from the physical cabinet. You get a precise, holographic soundstage where you simply get lost in the music.
Signature Sound:
A perfectly "flat" frequency response can often sound clinical. We voice our systems for pure engagement: highly transient lows, an articulate midrange, and extended, non-fatiguing highs. It’s a dynamic, highly musical curve designed to make you smile.
Zero Compromise:
We pair top-tier Danish transducers with audiophile-grade crossover components. Our high-density, heavily braced cabinets are engineered to push box resonance completely outside the critical listening band, ensuring clean, uncolored output.
Big and Unapologetic:
We don't build timid speakers. From critical listening to high-volume weekend sessions, our designs prioritize high sensitivity and massive dynamic headroom. You get linear, uncompressed performance that handles transient peaks without breaking a sweat.
